DIG Partners with Habitat for Humanity International
Since late 2005, DIG has been working with Habitat for Humanity
International on a variety of activities designed to assist HFHI as it seeks to
incorporate microfinance-based methods into its strategy for housing
finance delivery. In January 2006, DIG delivered a training in Honduras for
more than 20 Habitat and habitat-affiliated staff. DIG has also assisted
Habitat at a more global level, working notably on long term planning for
microfinance integration within Habitat, and on a study, financed by the
World Bank, on the impact, limitations, and market for housing
microfinance worldwide. DIG and Habitat conducted field work in Peru and
Bolivia in support of that study, whose findings will be published as a part
of a forthcoming World Bank "flagship" book on housing finance.
