



Who We Are:
DIG founders, staff, and associates are development experts who are
recognized leaders in the fields of microfinance, housing finance, banking for
the poor, urban and community development, and post-emergency
reconstruction. The following are brief bios on DIG's founders.
Franck Daphnis, President & CEO
A recognized leader in microfinance, housing finance, and urban
development. Mr. Daphnis’s professional experience has focused on
housing finance, microfinance, urban development, operations
management, housing and infrastructure rehabilitation, municipal services
cost recovery, and urban environmental management. Mr. Daphnis has
authored and edited two books on housing finance, including Housing
Microfinance: A guide to Practice (Kumarian Press, January 2004.)
Dr. Mayada Baydas, Senior Vice President & Managing Director
A leading expert in the field of microfinance with research and practical skills
focusing on the commercialization of microfinance through Non
Governmental Organization (NGO) and banking sector partnerships. She
has established and served as the Director/General Manager of AMEEN, the
largest microfinance organization in Lebanon. Dr. Baydas has worked in
several regions around the world, particularly in Africa and the Middle East,
as well as a number of countries in Asia (Azerbaijan, Indonesia, India,
Pakistan), Eastern Europe, and Latin America.
Delila Khaled, Vice President, Programs
An international development professional with 10 year of experience in the
design, management, and supervision of programs funded by USAID,
UNICEF, World Bank, and Asian Development Bank. Ms. Khaled’s wide
range of experience includes microfinance, investment promotion,
community development, and infrastructure improvement. She previously
served as Business Development Manager for TSG and as Senior Program
Manager for CHF International she oversaw the NGO’s microfinance,
housing finance, agribusiness and community services programs.
Ruby AlSalem, Director for Microfinance Consulting Services
As an experienced microfinance manager and trainer, Ms. AlSalem has
designed, implemented and co-managed several multi-million dollar
programs, funded by USAID and the private sector, related to microfinance
development, cooperative strengthening, and institution building. As AMEEN’
s Deputy General Manager & Operations Manager / Lebanon, Ms. Al-Salem
supervised all line staff for the largest and most successful microfinance
program in Lebanon, and one of the first in the Middle East to link MFIs and
commercial banks.
